The Arithmoí School

Learn ontological mathematics from the Arithmoí books. Each course follows one of the Foundation's books, part by part, at your own pace: read it, hear it read aloud, watch its figures move, and check your understanding as you go.

Courses grown from the books

Arithmoí Book 1 is the first course, and every book the Foundation publishes becomes a course in its turn. Each learner reads, listens, answers and plans their study when it suits them. Sign in with your email and a six-digit code.

What you find there

  • The course map

Book 1's 8 sections and their 92 parts, and where you are in them.

  • A lesson to read

The book's own words, its formulas set as the book sets them, and its figures.

  • Figures that move

For some parts, a short animation shows what the mathematics does.

  • Listen

Every part can be heard, read aloud from the book.

  • Notes

Your notes stay beside each part, and the school remembers where you are, on every device you sign in on.

  • A study plan

Plan your weeks, with reminders that follow your own plan.

Know that you understand

  • Questions after each part

The school checks each answer and tells you whether it is right; when it is not, it points to the place in the book to read again. After a miss, a hint; after a second, the answer. Nothing is ever locked.

  • Practice

Every question of a course in one place, with where you stand on each: right, right with help, not yet, or not tried. Try again the ones that are not yet yours.

  • Progress

Each section you finish is a milestone on your progress, with its date, and the next section is suggested.

  • Certificates

A Certificate of completion for each course. Every certificate has a number that anyone you give it to can check: it shows who earned it, for which course and when, and nothing else.

A school that is yours to arrange

  • Your look

Codex, Cosmos or Studio, each light, dark or like your device: the page you like best to read.

  • Chat

Talk with other learners and the Foundation, by the username you chose.

  • Yours alone

There are no rankings between learners: you see only your own progress. Your answers, notes and plan can be downloaded from your settings at any time, and deleting your account deletes them all.

Free once you sign in

One Arithmoí account opens every Arithmoí site. Every course is free once you sign in: ask for access with your email address, sign in with your email and a six-digit code, and choose a username at your first sign-in. It is your name in chat.
